BIM COORDINATION & CD SET
Multiple prototypes were modeled in Revit to expand the firm’s project library. Each prototype included a variety of customized design options. Once clients had selected their preferred ADU design, we created a site-specific model using survey data to accurately represent their property. After confirming site conditions through a feasibility report, the project proceeded to the construction phase.
Despite its smaller scale, this project highlights the efficiency and precision of our BIM workflow. The ADU Revit model was contained in a single file, where design options were consolidated once the client made their selection. A second Revit file housed the property’s topography and survey data. Both files were then linked into a third Revit file, which contained the sheet list for developing the construction documents (CDs).
This streamlined workflow allowed for quick replacement of lots and prototypes, enabling rapid development of the CD set to expedite the permitting process and start construction promptly.
Project highlight: Transformed a complex system of ADU prototypes into a streamlined, modular BIM workflow using Revit. Leveraged smart file linking and a clean, well-organized project library to accelerate CD production and fast-track permitting.
Client: SnapADU, a building design firm dedicated to the design and build of ADUs prototypes all over California.
Assignments: BIM modeling and drafting. Construction drawings. IBC code application.
